    Ken Wickham became Adjutant General of the U.S. Army by way of West Point. He served with the Coast Artillery and then joined the First Special Service Force at the very beginning stages. Col. Wickham drew up the original First Special Service Force table of organization, selecting the Americans and making the arrangements to bring the Canadians to Helena, Montana. He was one of the first on the War Department scene in June of 1942 with Col. Robert T. Frederick. He first served as Adjutant and in January 1944, became Force Executive Officer.

    Col. Wickham was the man who after the battle of Monte la Defensa, ordered up cases of whisky and condoms to cover the barrels of their rifles. After the completion of the Italian battles, Col Wickham joined General Frederick on the 1st Airborne Task Force prior to the landings of Southern France. He joined the 45th Division and was part of their march east, the Battle of the Bulge, and Central Europe.

    Ken Wickham retired from the Military in 1971 as a Major General and passed away on June 21st, 2004 at age 85 years and is interred at the U.S. Military Academy West Point N.Y. Memorial # 536956648.
